SCHS opened in 2009 with grades 9 and 10; in 2010-2011, it will house grades 9, 10, and 11; in 2011-2012, it will house all four grades and graduate its first class in 2012.

Summer Creek High School is located on 67 acres of land in the Spring Trace Development on the southwest side of Beltway 8, near the extension of W. Lake Houston Parkway. This is an excellent location for this facility to address future growth in the southern portion of the District.

The project includes approximately 435,000 square feet to house a comprehensive, 9th through 12th grade high school for 3,200 students; athletic facilities and playing fields, auditorium, natatorium, career and vocational education facilities, food court and learning resource center; parking for students, staff and visitors. The mascot is the Bulldogs and the colors are maroon and gold.
